SUSTAINABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT
Bay Dreams is one of New Zealand’s most popular Summer music festivals, with over 50,000 music lovers attending two events.
Closed Loop Site Services is the Sustainability Partner for Bay Dreams, managing the waste across events in Mount Maunganui (North Island) and Nelson (South Island). The goal for the events in January 2020 was to increase landfill diversion to over 60%.
Across the 2 events, 74.5% of all waste materials were recycled, totalling 383.37 cubic meters of resources diverted from landfill.

DONATED TO REFUGEES
200 - 500 leftover tents donated to refugees in the Greek Islands (Samos Island) where there is accomodation for 650 people, and currently 7,000 refugees needing accomodation. Collected by The Tent Collectors

Bay Dreams has already come a long way. Our aim for 2020 was to increase our diversions to over 60%. Closed Loop helped us not only reach that goal, but smash it. At Bay Dreams North we reached a diversion of 77.9% and saved 286 cubic meters of waste from landfill. In 2021 we aim to increase this to over 80% and are well on track to achieve this.
