SUSTAINABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT

It's going to be a full house." That was the message from Selwyn Sounds promoter David Parlane.

International travel restrictions mean that this year the event is "keeping it Kiwi”. The expected crowd of about 10,000 was treated to an all New Zealand lineup featuring Stan Walker, Jordan Luck Band, Zed, Elemeno P, Annie Crummer, The Chills, Hello Sailor, Lady Killers and Automatic 80s.

Selwyn Sounds was scheduled for last month, but was delayed due to the Covid-19 alert level rise. The challenging nature of the pandemic meant that the event had postponements and changes to the event which Closed Loop embraced and stood up to the challenge. Holding it in Autumn added a new feel, as it was the first time the Lincoln Domain transcended into full darkness during the event.

The team cleaned the site, hand sorted the waste, cleaned the car parks and surrounding streets, and maintained the venue over the weekend of the event. Closed Loop collected and hand sorting 54m3 of waste into 5 different waste streams achieving a landfill diversion of 58.3%.
